We are all crying
our free-will offerings
to a faithful God
as the bittersweet melody
of our life
moves us to tears.
We are all chasing
the laughter that echoes
off
fleshly corridors,
but every extension of our reach
brings tears:
overjoyed or
devastated
all lead to the self-same
place—
our hearts cannot contain
nor fathom
where we’re headed
through the blur.
Each tear leaves a trail
to the edge of our longing
an infinite canyon
we cannot span
With you, I lean over
dropping
salt-encrusted memories
as gifts to
Christ, Righteous
and True
who whispers—Take heart,
weary one
our separation will end
at the last trump—it is done!
And the thread that holds us
taut
and
tangled
His touch
shall dissolve to greater
Being
and all our crying will cease
to have a home.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. (Psalm 126:5–6)

Oh, Brenda, thank you for the compliment. (If you only knew how much I struggle with each word, all the while doubting my abilities. Does any of this resonate with you?)
Loved that you stopped by, dear friend. I hope today surrounds you with springtime beauties.
